Councillor wants Dog Bin reviewLocal Town Councillor Robert Eggleston has branded new dog laws as beingpretty much unenforceableWhilst welcoming the new laws he says that their enforcement is hardly possible without teams of council officers on patrol looking for breaches of the rules. That is hardly likely to happen in this economic climate.Councillor Eggleston said “the majority of dog owners act very responsibly. So we need to do everything we can to help them dispose of dog waste easily. Better signage and ensuring there are sufficient dog bins and bins in the right place could be the answer to this. This is what some residents (whether or not they own a dog) have been saying to me. Robert says that he wants to hear from owners and non owners alike on this issue so please use the contact form in this Focus and give him your views.

The new dog laws

– Owners must immediately clean up their dogsmess.

– Dogs are not allowed in fenced childrens play areas & fenced recreational areas.

– You can be ordered to put your dog on a lead in designated sporting areas, conservation sites and local nature reserves by a council officer.

There is a new maximum fine of £1,000 if you break these rules
